ABOUT

Abbie Cardwell is an award-winning Australian singer-songwriter who knows her way around a great song — and isn't afraid to take it somewhere unexpected. Her music moves across Americana, roots, country, folk and electronica, mixing acoustic instruments with beats and electronic production.

A Triple J Unearthed winner and recipient of a BMI USA Songwriter Award and ABC Dig Radio Music Award, Abbie has played WOMAD, Woodford Folk Festival and Splendour in the Grass, and shared stages with the likes of Steve Earle, Tony Joe White and Kasey Chambers.

She's just as comfortable with a bare-bones ballad as she is with an a beat. Her latest album, Love Is An Amplifier, brings those worlds together. She's now taking the songs live with a hybrid band featuring Warren Earle on pedal steel and Rod Coe on double bass, with Abbie on vocals, banjo, guitar, harmonica and electronic trigger pads.

Looking back, all the twists and turns of Abbie's musical life seem to have led here; to ballads and bangers, tear-jerkers and dance anthems —with a strong penchant for stage costumes!
